LESSON TEXT-2 Timothy 3:14-17
INTRODUCTION
The Bible contains the very word of God;2Tim. 3: 16. It is also referred to as “Scriptures”; Jn. 5: 39. The Bible is a special and holy book that reveals the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners and the hope of believers. It is also the standard of judgment on the last day; Jn. 12: 48. God magnifies His word even above His name; Ps. 138: 2b. May the Holy Spirit grant us understanding of the word in Jesus’ name.

LESSON CONTENT
A. STUDYING THE WORD OF GOD
The following are some of the reasons why believers should study the
·God commanded us to study it; Josh. 1:8;2 Tim. 2: 15.
·God’s Word provides firm foundation in God’s truth; Col. 2: 7.
·Gives opportunity to know and love God better, to know His mind and will for their life at every stage; Ps. 119: 105; Jn.14:21;2 Tim 3: 16-17.
·The Word is able to save the lost soul and provide all man’s needs;Jas. 1:21;Jn. 15:7.
The Word of God is unfailing, totally reliable, perfect and error-free; Ps. 18:30;19:7-11.
The Word is complete and does not require any updlate or correction; Ps. 119: 89; Rev. 22: 18-19.
·The Word of God helps us to avoid errors; 1 Tim.4:16,Ps.1911.
The Word accomplishes what is promised; Isa. 55:11.
The Word is the source of truth; Jn. 17: 17; Victory, Eph. 6: 17Growth, 1 Pet. 2: 2; Power, Rm. 1: 16;Guidance,Ps.119:105Believers should not just read the Bible but also devote time t study prayerfully and meditatively, Ps. 1: 2; 1 Tim. 4: 15.
B. BELIEVERS’ RESPONSE TO THE WORD
In studying the word of God, we should:
·Watch out for what God wants to reveal to us, Dan. 9: 2.
·Seek to be edified, instructed and corrected, 2 Tim. 3:16.
·The above will be achieved if we are willing to obey and do the content of the word of God; Deut. 28: 1; Jas. 1: 22-25; Lk.1128;Jn. 15:14.
We must listen to the Word regularly, Rom.10:17.
·We must allow the Word dwell in us richly, Col. 3: 16; and not ignorant, Matt. 22:29
We must not despise, Prov. 13: 13;disobey,1 Sam. 15:22.
CONCLUSION
The place of the Word of God in our lives cannot be over-emphasized. The Bible is God-inspired book that covers every subject of human knowledge and need, now and forever.
