INTRODUCTION
God’s word has the answers to life’s important questions like: where did l come from? Gen 1: 26-27, why am I here? Gen 1: 26; Deut. 10:12 and where will I go? Jn. 14:1-3; Rev. 20: 15. The word of God is the pilgrim’s staff, the traveler’s map, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword and the Christian’s charter. Therefore, the Bible has several symbols that illustrate the importance of the word of God.

A. SIMBOLIC ILLUSTRATIONS IN THE WORD
For better understanding, certain symbols are used to explain the meaning and significance of the word of God. The symbols include: a seed, Lk. 8: 11; 1 Pet. I: 23; Lamp, Ps. 119:105; Light, Ps. 119:130;Food, 1 Pet. 2: 2; Sword, Heb. 4: 12; Eph. 6: 17; Fire, Jer. 23: 29a;Hammer,Jer.23:29b.
B. SOME CHARACTERISTICS OF THE WORD OF GOD
Some characteristics of the Word of God include the following:
·The word of God can never fail,Isa. 55:10-11;Lk.1:37.
·The word of God is eternally true, Ps. 119:160.
·The word of God will not go unfulfilled, 1 Kgs. 8: 56; lsa. 46: 9-10;Job 42:2.
The word of God cannot be altered nor changed, Jn. 10:35Ps.119:89.
The word of God is not subject to season or nature, 1 Pet.125.
The word of God is quick and powerful,Heb. 4:12.
The word of God is priceless, Ps. 119:72;Prov.8:10-11.
The word of God has the power to create, Ps. 33:6;Prov 1820-21.
The word of God is the ultimate proof of our faith,Jn.15:7.10
The word of God is life, Jn. 6:63;Prov. 3:1-2,4:20-22.
CONCLUSION
The word of God can never fail regardless of life’s numerous challenges Mk. 13:31.Hold on to and keep the word that you have received in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus,2 Tim.1:13-14.
