Lesson 33: That I May Know Him; John 1:10

INTRODUCTION: Jesus Christ is the Word of God and He is also God. Jesus is the life and the Light of the world. He created all things but He has a special love for the world. What is this special love? In John 1:10 and down the line, we begin to discover what exactly this special love is. But first of all let us ask the following questions:

a) Was there a time when Jesus was not on earth?
b) When has He been in the world?
c) Can you say precisely when He has been in the world before He was born in Bethlehem?
d) From the above, what can we learn about the coming of Christ?
e) Where is He – Is Jesus far from us?
f) Where is Jesus presently?

1. Only once was Jesus not in the world as mentioned in Psalms 90:2

2. He has been in the world before the world existed – Gen. 1:4
a) He came in the form of Melchisedek – Hebrews 7:1-3, John 8:56-58
b) He was in the burning bush – Exodus 3:1-6
c) He was The Captain of Hosts that appeared to Joshua -Joshua 5:13-15
d) He was the Rock that followed the Israelites – I Corinthians 10:1-4,
e) He was the Rock that killed Goliath – I Samuel 17:45-47
f) He was the fourth man in the fiery furnace – Daniel 3:24-25.

In each of these cases we see that Christ is always around in the time of victory because He is the Victor, Genesis 14:17-20, to deliver Exodus 3:7-8, to remove obstacles – Joshua 6:2-5, to supply strength and comfort in time of crisis – Matthew 11:28, John 7:37 and even in the time of deadly crisis – Psalms 23:4, Isaiah 43:2.

3. He is only far away when rejected – II Corinthians 15:1-2,
4. And He is with me now –Matthew 28:18-20

CONCLUSION: Jesus is ever present. Are you happy? He will share your joy. Are you in a tight corner? Call on Him. He is near.
