Lesson 34: That I May Know Him (Contd.); John 1:10
INTRODUCTION: In the first part of John 1:10, we have learnt that Jesus is always near to those who welcome Him: be in the fire or in the river, in a storm or in a tight corner, in time of sorrow or time of victory. However, His is far away from those who reject Him. Also, that right now, He is seated physically on the right hand of God but He is in my heart through His Holy Spirit.
Tonight, we want to know more about Him as we answer the question who is Jesus Christ? What
Are His Names? What are the implications of His various Names?
His various Names and titles could be found in the following passages:
a) Emmanuel – Isaiah 7:14,
b) Wonderful – Isaiah 9:
c) King – Isaiah 32:2, Matthew 21:5,
d) Divine Servant – Isaiah 42:1, Mark 6:2,
e) Arm of the Lord – Isaiah 53:1, Isaiah 11:3.
f) Divine Evangelist – Isaiah 63:1, Luke 19:10.
g) Illuminator – Isaiah 9:2.
h) Liberation- Isaiah 42:7.
i) Burden bearer – Isaiah 53:4.
j) Sin Bearer – Isaiah 53:6.
k) Intercessor – Isaiah 53:12.
l) Son of Man – John 13:31.
m) Bright and Morning Star – Revelation 22:16.
n) My Bridegroom – Ephesians 5:23.
CONCLUSION: Paul said “….that I may know Him…” We know Him as the Healer, Saviour, Liberator, and Burden Bearer etc. But has he revealed His power in your life? When He returns as the judge will you be seated with Him on His judgment throne or will you stand as an accused? Think on these things and pray.
