Lesson 36: The Divine Visitor; John 1:11
INTRODUCTION: In the previous study as we started our study of John 1:11, we considered the theme “HIS OWN” and discovered how to become a favourite of God. This week, we want to consider the two words “HE CAME”, in order to discover more about the Divine Visitor, Jesus Christ.
The major questions we wish to answer are as follows:
a) Why did Jesus come?
b) Why was Jesus crucified on the day of the Passover and
c) What is the supreme achievement of Jesus Christ?
Jesus came to preach the Kingdom of God Luke 4:43. (What is the difference between His preaching and the gospel)? He came as a minister – Matt.20:28 to fulfill the law – Matt. 5:17-19, to seek and save the lost – Luke 19:10, I Timothy 1:15, to save the world, John 3:17 to give abundant life, John 10:10 to bear witness to the truth John 18:37 or rather to reveal the Truth
( Himself), to bring a sword Matt. 10:34 a symbol of judgment, John 9:39.
Jesus died on the day of Passover because He is the Passover Lamb of God – John 1:29. His crowning work is to send Fire on the earth – Luke 12:49
CONCLUSION:The crowning work of the Divine Visitor is to send fire on the World. Whether that Fire purifies you or burns you up, it depends on whose side you are: whether on the side of Christ or on the side of the world John 16:7-15. Can you pray that the Holy Ghost fire should fall on you? .
