Lesson 48: The Royal Priesthood – Part 2

INTRODUCTION: In the first part on the Royal Priesthood, we established that all born again Christians are Priests and Kings to God Almighty. We also established their duties as consisting of offering spiritual sacrifices to the Lord by way of praises, songs, rejoicing, etc.

Today we, continue our study of the Royal Priesthood as we consider the priviledges of being a priest and king to God.

1. Since Christ is the High Priest and we are priest too, it follows that we share His responsibilities, doing His works and extending His ministry. Consequently, we shall share His blessing and reward also. Galatians 3:29, Romans 8:17, Titus 3:7, 17, Galatians 4:7, Philippians 2:15, I John 3:1, I Thessalonians 5:5.

2. Priests are special people. They are higher in honour and authority than ordinary people. This is more so when they are royal priests, because then, they are real power being on the throne. Exodus 19:5, Deut. 14:2, Deut. 26:19, Psalms 29:11, I Samuel 12:22, I Cor.1:26.

3. As Priests, they normally wield tremendous powers; not necessarily directly in the physical realm but in the spiritual realm. However, since spiritual laws are superior to physical laws those who understand and operate spiritual laws control the physical realms also. Ephesians 6:12,, II Corinthians 10:4, I Samuel 17:46, Hebrews 4:12, Revelation 12:11, Matthew 18:18.
