Lesson 319: STUDIES IN ACTS – PART ONE ACTS. 1:1-8
INTRODUCTION:
Within 2 years, the first century church covered the world with the Gospel. How did they do it? Can we use the same methods or weapons today? That is the purpose of this new series. May the Lord bless us richly as we study in Jesus Name. Amen.
1. THE GOSPEL REACHED THE FIRST CENTURY WORLD IN SIX STAGES
The human author of the Book of Act is Dr. Luke and the correct title is “Acts of Apostolic men Acts 1:1-3; Luke 1:3; Acts 6:7. The name of the recipient, Theophilus, means, a lover of God. The Book of Acts shows us how the Church spread from (i) Jerusalem, to (ii) Palestine, to (iii) Antioch, to (iv) Asia Minor to (v) Europe, and finally to (iv) Rome, the headquarters of the world. So that the world was reached in six stages Acts 9:31; Acts 12:24; Acts. 16:5; Acts 28:31.
2. THERE IS A POWER SUPERIOR TO POLITICAL POWER
Whenever God promises anything, it will surely come to pass Acts. 1:4-5; Ps. 119:89; Num. 23:19; I Sam. 15:29; Acts 1:6-7. And He has promised to every believer something superior to any political power; that is spiritual power, the power that the Holy Spirit alone can give Zech. 4:6; I Sam. 16:4-5; I Kings 17:1; II Kings 6:21-23; II Kings 13:14-17. You can receive that power today Acts 1:8; John 14:6; Matt. 24:35; John 14:14.
