Lesson 323: ACTS OF THE APOSTLE PART 4

INTRODUCTION:
n the last part of this series we saw the folly of choosing first and then asking the Holy Spirit to bless your choice we also learnt a lot of lessons from the fall of Judas Iscariot. Today, as we move to the next chapter of the Book of Acts, we pray that God will bless us richly in Jesus name. Amen.

1. THE HOLY SPIRIT IS GIVEN FOR THE HARVESTING OF SOULS

The feast of Pentecost is held form 6th to 13th of June after the harvesting of wheat Acts 2:1-4; Acts 2:41. This shows clearly that the Holy Spirit choose this day of Pentecost to come because the principal purpose of the Holy Spirit is harvest souls and to separate the wheat from the tares John 16:7-13; Exo. 32:26-28.

2. THERE WAS A PURPOSE BEHINF THE TARRYING OF THE APOSTLES TOO

Some of the reasons why the Apostles had to tarry long in the upper room before the Holy Spirit descended on them are to have time to (i) pray (ii) repent thoroughly (iii) meditate (iv) surrender and (v) obey. II Chr. 7:14; I John 1:9; Rom. 13:8; Ps. 66:18; I Cor. 1:20; I Cor. 1:25; Ps. 73:21-24; I Sam. 2:3-4; Ps. 73:26; I Cor. 1:27; Ps. 73:27-28; Rom. 6:13; John 4:34; Acts 5:32; Matt. 18:19; Jer. 29:13.
