Lesson 109: God The Holy Spirit – Part 14
INTRODUCTION: We have learnt that there are three gifts in the Power group of gifts of the Holy Spirit. They are the gifts of faith, healing and working of miracles. We have studied the gift of Faith. Now we want to study the gifts of healing, I Cor. 12:9. The first thing to note is that these gifts of healing have nothing to do with the medical art. Also while all may pray for the sick, not all have the gifts of healing, I Cor. 12:30. Furthermore, there are gifts of healing because there are categories of sicknesses and diseases. As many of us as desire these gifts, may God enable us to obtain them tonight in Jesus Name. Amen.
1. VARIOUS DISEASES NECESSITATES VARIOUS GIFTS OF HEALING
There are three main reasons why the gifts of healing are given to the body of Christ (i) So that the Body of Christ may be strong physically (ii) So that the Body of Christ may be joyful and (hi) so that God may be glorified.
The various gifts of healing may be classified under five main headings (a) The general healing gifts which empowers one to deal with diseases/sickness caused by bacteria. Viruses and germs (b) the gift for casting out of blind, deaf and dump spirits (c) the gift for casting out of the more powerful demons like the epileptic demon, (d) the higher gift of healing involving recreation and (e) the gift of healing requiring the raising of the dead.

2. HOW TO OBTAIN THE GIFTS
There are conditions to be satisfied if you arc to obtain these gifts. They include: You must be (i) born again, sanctified, and baptized in the Holy Spirit (ii) Compassionate (iii) stubborn i.e. once you start something you must see it through and (iv) Industrious. Matt. 5:7; Pro. 11:17; James I:6-7;Acts 16:16-23; Luke 5:5; John 21:3; Matt. 25:28-29.
3. HOW TO USE THE GIFTS
There are seven important things to note in administering healing to the sick. They are (i) get the patient born again because healing is the Children’s bread (ii) raise the faith of the sick (iii) get the sick to participate. Healing is a two-way traffic of giving and receiving (iv) healing is not a show business (v) Explain to the sick that healing may be gradual (vi) do not use the gifts indiscriminately. Be led by the Holy Spirit (vii) continue to seek the Lord in prayer and fasting.
