Lesson 136: THE SPIRITUAL MAN – PART 1

INTRODUCTION: The Bible talks of different kinds of men. There is the “Natural man” the “Regenerated man”, the “Carnal Man”, the “Spiritual man” etc. Now, we begin a study of the spiritual man. But in an attempt to find out who is the spiritual man, we will need to know who the other men are. May God quicken our understanding as we study in Jesus Name. Amen.

1. THERE ARE TWO FINES OF HEREDITY: THE FLESH LINE AND THE SPIRIT LINE
When Jesus was discussing with Nicodemus, He made it clear that there are those who are born of the flesh and those who are born of the Spirit. Hence, there are two lines of heredity: the flesh and the spirit line. The flesh line produces the natural man whose characteristics are (i) a darkened understanding (ii) inability to receive things of God (iii) absence of any really good thing (iv) an object of the wrath of God and (v) a deceitful and desperately wicked heart (vi) inability to please God (vii) inability to change
from his sinful ways unaided.

2. THE SPIRITUAL MAN HAS A DIVINE PARENTAGE
God is the Father of the spiritual man, the human heart is the womb into which the SEED of the Word of God is dropped. The seed is vitalized by the Holy Spirit and a new nature is imparted within. This new nature cannot sin but bears fruits which are the outward evidence of what is within. The spiritual man has spiritual eyes and can see what is hidden to the natural man.
