Lesson 240: THE BOOK OF REVELATION – PART 7

INTRODUCTION:
In the last part of this series, we saw that the Devine definitions of wealth is different from man’s. We also saw that faithfulness to the death is the condition for obtaining the crown of life from the glorified Christ. Today, we shall study the letter to the third Church, the one at Pergamos. May the Lord bless us as we study at His feet in Jesus Name. Amen.

1. THE PRINCIPLE OF THE CHRISTIAN LIFE IS NOT ESCAPED BUT CONQUEST.

Pergamos was rightly described as the seat of Satan. Yet Christians dwelt there because light is not supposed to run from darkness. We are to conquer, not to flee from the enemy. There was a time when people were prepared to die for Christ; today some are even afraid of ordinary ridicule. The warning to all Christians had always been “Be ye separated”.

2. WHITE IS THE COLOUR OF HEAVEN, NEW IS ITS OPERATIVE WORD

Whenever God decides to punish offenders in a congregation, He knows how to separate sinners from saints. He can convict or kill with His word, which is the sword of the Spirit. Overcomers will eat manna, “the Angels’ Food” and will be given a white stone and a new name befitting his/her new status in the heavenly kingdom.
