Lesson 27: The Great Battle; John 1:5

INTRODUCTION: from time immemorial, there had been a continuous battle between good and evil, light and darkness. Today we want to explore a little into this great battle of the ages to see where we are involved and how to be a victor always. The following questions will aid our exploration.

Why cannot darkness overcome light? How can you avoid being overcome by the evil forces? When can darkness triumph over light? When is there absolute darkness? What can cause light to go out of a lamp? If the light goes out of a lamp? If the light goes out how can we start it again? How can we determine the brightness of a light? When should one be more careful and why?

Darkness cannot overcome light because light created darkness and the only time when there is absolute darkness is when light withdraws Job 12:23 or when people reject Jesus Christ. John 3:19.

One main reason why light can go out is lack of oil Revelation 2:4-5. If light goes out, we restart by getting rid of the ashes and cleaning the lamp, Job 11:14-17, get oil from source Micah 7:8, and a new flame Malachi 4:2.

The brightness of light is determined by the intensity of the darkness around it, II King 6:15-17,
II King 1:13-14. We should be most careful when our light is brightest Judah 16:9-15 because Satan is cunning Proverbs. 29:3, Judges 16:6, Judges 16:19-24

CONCLUSION: How bright is your light? How careful are you?
