Lesson 286: COMPROMISE OR SEPARATION (FROM THE WORLD) WHICH WAY?

INTRODUCTION:
What does separation mean? It does not necessarily mean the life of an ascetic, i.e. (one who practices rigorous self denial) or shut oneself up in a monastery, a secluded place even in the Christian, it means the power to live “in the world, but not of the world”, i.e. the desire for worldly things and pleasures is replaced and overcome by the new nature of Christ, which fills the heart. Compromise with evil in any form hinders blessing for a Christian, may God bless us as we go on in study of His word.

1. SEPARATION FROM THE WORLD

This is well illustrated by the story of the Israelites coming out of Egypt. Pharaoh represents the Adversary. On their (Israelite) trying to leave Egypt Pharaoh offered his compromises.

THE COMPROMISES

First Compromise
Ex. 2:10-11; Ex. 6:6; Ex. 7:14; Ex. 8:25; II Cor. 6:14-17; John 2:15-17.

Second Compromise
Ex. 8:28; Eph. 5:11.

Third Compromise
Ex. 10:24; I Sam. 15:9; 13-14; I Sam. 15:22-23; Ex. 10:26; Ex. 10:27-29; Ex. 33:16; John 15:18-19; Ezra 6:21; Neh. 9:2; I Tim. 6:5.
