Lesson 41: Generosity – Part 1

INTRODUCTION: We have learnt that the law of harvest in the basic principle on how to become wealthy. Give and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down and shaken together and running over will men give to your bosom. The harvest is always abundantly more than the seed sown. But how much should we give? To whom? When? Where? How? All these questions are reasonable and we believe the Lord will answer them for us.

1. Our greatest example of generosity is God Himself. God the Father is so generous He gave His all – John 3:16, and God the Son is generous He gave His life – John 10:11. God the Holy Spirit is so generous He give all the glory to Jesus Christ – John 16:13-14. Another word for generous is liberal – II Cor. 8:2, 9:6, I Tim.6:18, Nahum 1:7, Ps. 25:8,
Ps. 86:5-15, Ps. 33:5, Exod. 34:6, Isaiah 63:7, Ps. 63:3.

2. The giving of the Lord is not only generous but constantly. What a lesson to us His children. Deut. 11:13-15, Gen. 9:12-15, Job 5:10, Gen. 1:2, Jer. 31:3, John 10:28, Deut. 8:18, Luke 11:13, Eph. 4:11, Romans 12:4-6, I Cor. 12:4-11, James 1:17

3. The Lord expects us to be generous to Him, to His people and to the poor – Exod. 35:5, I Chron. 29:9, Malachi 3:8-9, Mark 12:41-44, Deut. 15:7-8, Matt.5:42, Luke 10:35, Rom.12:13, Gal. 2:10, 6:10, II Kings 6:22, Prov. 25:21-22, Isa. 58:7, I Tim. 6:17-19, Heb.13:16.

We shall conclude this series on generosity next week in Jesus Name. But now that you know that the Lord is generous, why not ask Him to bless you generously? Why not start being generous yourself even from now on?
